While Kevin September is brand new to being a small business owner, you likely already recognize him as the friendly and welcoming staff member of Lights on Stratford or from the Matilda Swanson Gallery where his first position was “gallery sitter” when that business opened. Kevin loves art and artists – and is a talented artist himself – and venturing out on his own he has recently opened Our Stōr(y) on George St – ‘a store full of stories’ from across the Huron Perth Waterloo and Wellington region.
This is a unique space where art and artists meet… truly! Not only does Kevin offer curated local creations but he is also bringing these artists to you via book launches and poetry readings, artist meet and greets, a record release party, and in the off shoulder season will offer amazing workshops. Imagine making your own moccasins, participating in a one-act play, writing your own biography, or pin striping your skateboard?! These are a few of the fun ideas Kevin has booked starting in September!
Right now you can drop into Our Stōry(y) and purchase art by professional duo – Graham Lynch and Colleen Schindler (their other works currently featured at Gallery Stratford), unique silver jewelry, quilts, pickle ball paddles made in St Mary’s, detailed skateboards by local Josh Dobson, and so much more. If you’d like to try your hand at Crokinole, you’re welcome to play with Kevin on the beautiful Tracey Boards board made in Tavistock.
Prior to Stratford three years ago, Kevin and his wife lived in Oakville and Toronto. For years, Kevin worked for World Vision as the Celebrity Engagement Manager, connecting the likes of The Property Brothers and Colin Mochrie with the charity that lifts the world’s most vulnerable children out of poverty.
